Call to Action - August 29, 2008

To NYSPC members and NYS pyros:

Bill S7899/A10750, which is supported by the NYSPC, clarifies the Penal Law to unambiguously allow private displays like weddings, sports events, competitions, and other similar non-municipal events.

This bill, and its negation of the 2007 NYS Attorney General's misinterpretation of the NYS Penal Law section 405, will go into effect 90 days after Governor paterson signs it into law. The S7899/A10750 bill is on the Governor's desk pending his decision either to sign it into law or to veto it.

Below is the Governor's contact information. Please contact Governor paterson and express your support for S7899/A10750. Attached are sample letters that can be printed, signed and mailed or faxed to the Governor's office. Phone calls to the Governor's office voicing your support are also effective, and doing both is highly recommended to get this bill signed into law as soon as possible.
