To NYSPC members and NYS pyros:
In late April a bill was introduced to update the Penal Law language, and only the Penal Law, in a way that clearly allows "private" events such as weddings, conventions, competitions and so forth. It is important to note that this bill does not include any of the anti-business burdens of the proposed DOL departmental legislation. In the Senate it is bill S7899, and in the Assembly it is bill A10750. For details, see the Legislative Updates page.As the 2007-2008 legislative session ends June 23, we ask that NYS pyros call their Senators and Assemblymembers THIS WEEK to support S7899/A10750.
Please call AND e-mail your state SENATOR in SUPPORT of S7899 and call AND e-mail your state Assemblymember in SUPPORT of A10750. To find your NYS Senator and Assemblymember, go to the NYS Senate and Assembly Contacts page.
NYSPC urgently asks all members to lobby for S7899/A10750 by also calling or emailing Senator Volker, chairman of the Senate Codes Committee and voicing our support. Just as important is a call or email to Assemblyman Joseph R. Lentol chairman of the Assembly Codes Committee doing the same.

Assemblyman Joseph R. Lentol

Very important: please let us know (info@nyspyro.org) when you have contacted your representatives.
Thanks and best regards,
